Our Story

On the 25th of February 2009 Party Cakes Whitsunday started as a humble market stall at the Airlie Beach Markets. Originally developed to provide party cakes for childrens birthdays it was quickly discovered by the likes of Daydream Island Weddings, Hamilton Island Weddings and other wedding businesses in the area. By 2011 Party Cakes Whitsunday was one of the top three suppliers of wedding and party cakes in the Whitsundays.

Morphing and changing with the times Party Cakes Whitsunday has undergone numerous revamps, from market stall to shopfront and has settled now as a homebased business in Jubilee Pocket. Founder Vhari Kelly, Pastry Chef and Decorator, balances family life at home while baking up a storm each week, presenting each of her clients with a masterpiece.

Vhari is skilled in numerous techniques as a Pastry Chef, such as fondant, buttercream, ganache icing, sugar flowers, and fondant details. Continually upgrading her skill, when possible, with workshops and online courses, to stay current with wedding and birthday cake trends.

As a child Vhari would love to bake in her spare time, always making a new flavour of cake for her Dads morning tea after working hard on their family farm. She’s not really sure of when she first started baking, but can remember when she was eight, when first meeting her brother in law who was a chef. And thereafter announcing that she would be a chef when she grew up. Finishing her chefs apprenticeship in 2006, she then applied for and officially received her business registration for Party Cakes Whitsunday on February 9th 2009. During the businesses second year of trade Vhari then completed her official Pastry Chefs Certificate.

Vhari prides herself on attention to detail with her cakes to ensure each and every one of her clients receive a perfect edible masterpiece.
